Imaginary Roses

First, I found a photo I liked of a nice woodland scene:

Then I added a plain coloured gradient on top:

Next, I added a few small swirling hexagons:

Which gave the photo a different feel already:

Then, I added the larger hexagons:

And the imaginary roses begin to appear:

The images in this post have been colour-popped in Windows Live Writer to make them more vivid. And the imaginary roses came together in PowerPoint and over on Beyond the Sphere before that.
